Florin Scarlat's first period of abstract compositions
was instinctual and intuitive, but clearly demonstrated
his creativity. Later, when he studied in America, he
developed a more constructivist approach and his life
as a dancer definitely shaped the themes of his compositions.
He refined his color combinations to become increasingly
subdued and subtle, reflecting the gracefulness of the
ballet. The dynamics of his compositions are expresssed
by more realistic reproductions of ballet dancers. They
are achieved by contrast of pure form, bound together
by an inner balance to create intimacy and rapport.
At the same time, each form responds emotionally to
the other in an expressive dialogue, movement for movement.
Scarlat achieves an original performance in bringing
to the canvas a breathtaking fusion of dance and painting.
Past
exhibitions include shows in Baltimore, MD, Washington
D.C., and Soho NYC.
